Additional Correspondence with Park District

Statement from Jason Brandt, Library Board President
“We are disappointed that the Park Board is unwilling to continue discussions about our proposal to build a new library at Lombard Common. The alternative locations they have suggested, which we have thoroughly and diligently explored, are all not viable for distinct reasons. Please see the documentation below from our architect providing the details as to the basis of the Library’s requested site, size, and location.

We do understand the Park’s concern about building on open land that includes soccer fields. This is why we have proposed from the beginning of this project that we remain at our existing location and have created a new building design that does not infringe on the Park’s air rights or require the Park District to provide any property to the library. The Library Board is now reevaluating options as we consider what is best for the Lombard community.”
